MILE HIGH OB/GYN ASSOCIATES - In Denver & Englewood, CO
Mile High OB/GYN is pleased to offer our patients the MonaLisa Touch®, a safe and effective laser therapy for vaginal health. The MonaLisa Touch® has revolutionized treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy which causes painful intimacy, also known as dyspareunia.
For many women experiencing menopause or cancer treatments, the vaginal tissues become dry and sensitive. The MonaLisa Touch® medical laser is able promote vaginal and vulvar health through new collagen, elastin, and vascularization.
As many as 50 percent of women experience these changes in vaginal health post-menopause. As part of our commitment to care for women through every stage of life, we’re thrilled to offer the MonaLisa Touch® as a highly effective, non-hormonal treatment option for women who cannot or choose not to use vaginal estrogen therapy.
Common Questions about MonaLisa Touch®
What is the MonaLisa Touch®?
The MonaLisa Touch® is a gentle laser therapy. For the treatment, the laser energy is delivered through a side-firing probe which is inserted into the vaginal canal. It is delivered in a two-part pulse, targeting both the surface tissue and deep tissue to promote vaginal mucosal revitalization.
Treatment typically consists of three sessions, given six weeks apart. Each therapy takes less than five minutes.
What does the MonaLisa Touch® feel like?
Administered in the Mile High OB/GYN office, the MonaLisa Touch® procedure is not painful and does not require anesthesia. While some patients experience mild discomfort when the probe is inserted, many report that the laser therapy itself feels like a gentle vibration.
When will I see results from the MonaLisa Touch®?
Often, patients will experience significant improvement after the first treatment session. Typically, progress escalates with each subsequent treatment. However, full results will not be seen until all treatments are complete, which will take about 18 weeks.
Will I need recovery time post-treatment?
While no downtime is required post-treatment, patients should refrain from sexual activity for two to three days. When undergoing MonaLisa Touch®, our dedicated team at Mile High OB/GYN will work with you to determine the best post-treatment plan for your individual body and needs.
Which patients are best suited for the MonaLisa Touch®?
The MonaLisa Touch® is appropriate for women suffering from a decline in estrogen, particularly postmenopausal patients, and those suffering from breast cancer or hysterectomy treatment. The MonaLisa Touch® is safe for patients with breast cancer who either cannot or do not want to receive estrogen therapy. The treat is safe for both middle-aged and geriatric patients, alike.
