About Jennifer Linhorst MD, FACOG

What Makes Colorado home to you?

After growing up in Nebraska and then attending Creighton for undergrad and medical school, I moved to Colorado in 2007 for residency and have been here since. During that time, I discovered what a wonderful backyard we have here in the foothills and the Rockies. I love spending time outside in the mountains camping and hiking and I am happy to call Colorado home.

What are your passions outside work?

I caught the travel bug as a medical student, and really love exploring and learning about different countries. After residency, I lived and worked in Australia for 1 year. It was so interesting to see how my field of medicine was practiced elsewhere. I already mentioned how much I love spending time outdoors, but I can be a pretty happy person at home too, cooking, knitting, playing the piano, enjoying a good book, or trying to keep all my plants alive.

Why did you become an OB/GYN?

I was first drawn to a career in health care when I started working as a certified nursing assistant in high school. Learning a bit about medicine during this training was fascinating, and I really enjoyed the residents with whom I worked on a daily basis. I initially thought I would become a family medicine doctor or internist; but then, I saw my first cesarean section as a young medical student. It really was incredible, and that experience is what put me on the path to become an Ob-Gyn. I love the variety this field offers and the patients I see and I can’t imagine doing anything else!
