We are excited to report that Dr. Jennifer Guggenheim, one of our OB/GYN physicians on the Rose campus, recently spent a week volunteering in Niger, West Africa. She told us, “I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with midwives and physicians in Niamey. Our team, from the US, Kenya, and the DRC was working with Save The Children. Our intention was to ensure babies are delivered safely in Niger. Niger is one of the world’s least developed countries. Nearly half the population lives in extreme poverty.”

Dr. Guggenheim’s journey to health care began when she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa. She then attended medical school at The University of Colorado. She has since gone on multiple volunteer trips to Haiti and El Salvador. This was her first post-Pandemic opportunity to volunteer abroad. She reports, “It was rewarding to work with the medical providers in Niger. We have the shared desire to improve maternal- fetal outcomes.”
